Quick opinion: Perfect Alpine village set amid stunning mountains. The village nursery slopes are broad, snowsure, gentle, long and even a little varied. We cannot think of a better place to learn and gain confidence. Lack of fast chairs higher up the mountain requires some walking to slopes and cable ways but don't be too put off as the views are spectacular. Runs down to the village are more difficult than graded on the piste map and can be nastily overcrowded. Take the cableways down if in any doubt. More
Zermatt ski holidays
Quick opinion: Best ski resort in the world ? Yes. Its got everything: scenery, authentic mountain village, luxury hotels and restaurants, fabulous on-piste skiing and even better off- piste. Zermatt has few weaknesses and enough strengths to last a lifetime of exploration. If you could afford it, it would be in Zermatt that you'd buy the ski chalet of your dreams. Can be expensive and maybe some of its clientele are a little obvious in their consumption, and it is also tempting to say that beginners are not best served but this would be, in the main, wrong. There are fine nursery slopes and ski-runs to progress to in the Klien Matterhorn sector. It is true to say beginners won't begin to make use of the epic skiing available but that's no reason for them not to go. More
